I commit to growing and using any God given abilities to encourage others, make things beautiful and create something that will communicate hope and a future.
Hometown: Ft.Collins, CO and everywhere in between.
About Me: A wife, homeschooling mom, singer/songwriter, recording artist, image stylist, Jesus follower and lover of beauty, fashion, hilarity, coffee and staying up late, Amber wears many hats. She and her husband and three kids have travelled the U.S. for the past four years taking advantage of the amazing and diverse environments in which they’ve lived. When she’s not mothering, working on writing and recording or styling a client, she enjoys staying up late and laughing with her best friend and hubby, Tim.
Do you have a nickname? How did you get it? My close friends and family call me Am or some variation of. My mom called me Ambrosia all growing up, mostly because she has a flair for anything embellished. It’s what I use now as my stage name! Works out!
Favorite Spring ’16 Aventura pieces: I’m most excited to try out Allura top and the Piper dress this summer!
Favorite Blog: I’m a huge fan of Jen Hatmaker’s blog. If it’s sarcastic, funny yet poignant and truthful, I love it.
Favorite Instagrammer or Pinner: On instagram I love Whippycake and Cobblestone Road Handlettering. I’m a sucker for beauty blogs that are down to earth and things that people create by hand that are just beautiful. I can’t choose just one on pinterest, I really dig the hive mentality and how I can search for something I’ve been wanting to find and voila- a multitude of options appear before me!
Singing in the car or singing in the shower: Hmmm, I would have to say belting LOUDLY in the car. There’s more time to sing a wide variety and embarrass the kids!
Person that inspires you: I currently have a major woman crush on my producer, Katrina Stone. She’s not only a wife, mom, musician, producer, writer, but an incredibly brave and encouraging friend/life coach. She never fails to make you believe that you are capable of great things all while giving her time, effort and investment to help you succeed. She’s a Girl-boss indeed, but an incredible encourager and friend. I want to be like her when I grow up.
Favorite Book: Notes from the Tilt-a-Whirl by N.D. Wilson
What are you listening to right now? My sister’s (Steffaloo) new EP! Well, that and my own halting, beginners ukulele songs…not too pretty. :)
Favorite movie of all time: Oh man! Just one?! Singing in the Rain or Waiting for Guffman. Vastly different but, hey, variety is the spice of life!
Best piece of advice you ever received? Just do the next right thing. Don’t look at everything you have to do, just focus on that next step, that next breath. One bit at a time. Before you know it, you’ll be where you need to be.
What’s the most amazing experience you’ve had in your life (besides having babies and getting married)? Probably making the choice to sell most of our possessions and travel the states these past 3.5 years. My youngest child has now travelled for 3/4 of her entire life. It’s been amazing to see amazing things like the gators in Florida, the Flume in New Hampshire, the Grand Canyon, Yosemite Park, and now all the mind blowing sites that Maui has to offer…but the best thing that has come of it has been the all the family bonding and seeing each other learn and grow through it all. We are far from having “made it” but we are blown away that this is our life!
Funny tidbit not everyone knows about you…but will now! I speak french. I majored in it during college and lived in France for about a year and a half. The travel bug hit me early I think… and I used to teach it to preschoolers! I still get to speak with francophiles every now and then on our travels!
What does #aventuralife mean to you? How do you live it? It means living to the hilt wherever I am. I commit to growing and using any God given abilities to encourage others, make things beautiful and create something that will communicate hope and a future. It means saying, “Why not?” more than asking “Why?”. It means passing on a sense of humor, a love of people and a love of learning to my kids by laughing at myself, loving fiercely and staying curious.
