Tami Mittan

a.k.a “Disney”

“Preserving beauty in our breathtaking natural world is near and dear to my heart, and I'm an active mom who tries to be conscientious about our environment.”

Hometown: Pierre, South Dakota

About Me: Tami lives in Colorado, and loves spending time outdoors. She works full time as a systems programmer, but her 3-day weekend schedule allows plenty of opportunities to play with her family. Passions include travel, reading, and chocolate cake. You can read about her outdoor and travel adventures at her blog Colorado Mountain Mom, and on TravelingMom.

Favorite Spring ’16 Aventura pieces: Sunnyvale short sleeve & skirt (love soft modal!); Galena shorts & capris (such great details); and Atherton dress (so delicate and pretty)

Favorite Blog: Outdoor Families Magazine and Traveling Mom

Singing in the car or singing in the shower: I’m generally waaaay too tired to sing in the shower…

Best Vacation Spot: My Reality Destination = Florida, where my family and I vacation often; My Dream Destination = Europe, where I'd love to spend a month exploring some day!

Person that inspires you: Walt Disney, for his big dreamer and never-lose-your-childlike-joy approach to life

Favorite Book: Jane Eyre

What are you listening to right now? Lately it’s my runDisney half marathon training play list, including motivators like “Fight Song” by Rachel Platten and “Girl on Fire” by Alicia Keys

Favorite movie of all time: Sense & Sensibility

Best piece of advice you ever received? A school counselor’s recommendation to pursue a degree in Computer Programming. I thought it sounded incredibly dull, but it turns out I’m a computer geek at heart, found my niche, and have thoroughly enjoyed my career ever since.

What’s the one thing you’re afraid of? Running out of ice cream.

What’s the most amazing experience you’ve had in your life (besides having babies and getting married): Exploring Minnesota’s North Shore coast (along Great Lake Superior) with just my Siberian Husky, a mountain bike, and a tent.

Funny tidbit not everyone knows about you…but will now! I’m a Late Bloomer in life! Late to marriage, had kids in my mid-to-late 30’s. I was super quiet and shy all through high school; now I’m goofy, friendly, and outgoing. :)

What does #aventuralife mean to you? How do you live it?: Aventura is a perfect fit with my lifestyle. To me, #AventuraLife encompasses all the things I love: living an active life, appreciating the earth, playing outside, and having fun.
