Aventura family member: Kathleen
a.k.a. Kath or Mom, depending on who's talking to me!
Department: Product Development/Merchandiser
Years at Aventura: I worked for 8 years during my teens and early twenties, and I have been back for 11.
At work I: Work with our designers, tech designers and factories to develop the best line possible. I also keep the girls in my office laughing....
When I’m not working I’m: Doing the mom thing, and I LOVE every minute of it. I have an amazing son who is 19 years old and a Freshman in college who plays baseball and a fantastic daughter who is 16 1/2 and is a competitive swimmer. You can imagine how my spare time has been spent over the years. I took up running a couple of years ago and I am training for my 3rd marathon and 2nd team relay event.
On the path to environmental sustainability I like to: Recycle as much as possible and re-use whatever I can. I plan on riding my bike to work a day or two a week this year because my husband bought me a really cool commuter bike for my birthday!
The one movie I could watch over and over: Under the Tuscan Sun or The Proposal
Best quote from that movie: Honestly, I could NEVER quote a movie or a book, I just don't seem to have a brain that remembers trivia like that. I just know I like them.
Most interesting place I’ve been: Hong Kong
Food you simply can’t live without: Bread and Mexican food
Food you simply CAN live without: Cottage cheese - isn't the consistency just wrong?!
Music worth downloading: Well, I'm still living in the 80's for my favorite running music, but I love Country and Christian for general listening. My I-pod's got a lot of cool, new hip music too, thanks to my daughter.
If I had one super power it’d be: Hmmm, ability to eat anything and not get fat? Is that a super power?
Advice for your younger self: I wish I'd have known that things that seemed incredibly important during my teens were just going to be a minute "blip on the radar of my life." Because if I'd have known that, I wouldn't have worried so much about everything and everyone. I have tried very hard to impress that upon my kids so that they can feel free to be themselves and do what they know is right, not what others say.
